With this colorful reusable gift presentation bag/tote bag, you can celebrate Earth Day every day!

This large gift presentation bag is made of a beautifully vibrant Zodiac-themed fabric with colors that are reminiscent of sunset over the ocean in summer with lively oranges, golds, blues and a tinge of purple. The bag measures 12" x 3 3/4" x 14" (30.5 cm x 9.5 cm x 35.5 cm) and features both lining and interfacing. (The bag has the same weight and feel that shirt collar and cuffs do.) This bag is large enough for a thick sweater or sweatshirt. Or, you can put a number of hardback books inside. It will also hold several pounds of candy, in case your sweetie has a sweet tooth! Some friends that I have given bags to have used them to carry library books instead of using them as gift bags. 

The interfacing in the bag is handy because it gives it body. Although the bag isn't as rigid as a paper gift bag, between the interfacing and the gusseted bottom, it can stand on its own. Like a paper bag, it can be folded for easy storage. If you ever feel that your bag has become too crinkled, simply iron it!

I decided to make reusable gift bags for my family after reading about how much wrapping paper is discarded every year. I hadn't realized that the glossy coatings and metallic finishes on them were toxic to the environment. I wasn't sure how my family would react, but they loved the gift bags. We end up trading them back and forth on the holidays.

You can either establish a tradition of returning the bags to the giver, or you can give the bag as part of the gift. Some people add a tag to their bags and write the city where they live on it. The next recipient adds his/her city, then give it to someone new. It can be fun to see how one bag travels to give joy to so many. The only limit to the bags' use is your imagination!
