Peacock Star of Bethlehem Full/Queen Size Quilt has bold colors, reminiscent of a peacock's feathers.  These lovely greens, blues and browns  are the focal point of this hand quilted Star of Bethlehem / Lone Star Quilt pattern quilt with matching shams.

This celery green and teal colored Star of Bethlehem/ Lone Star Quilt is actually a double star with the colored one being the most prominent. The second star is created by quilting stitches in white on white between the points of the pieced one. (The effect is most noticeable when spread out on a bed.) The colored star is made of teal blue, rich browns and celery greens. Several of the fabrics have golden accents which tie the colors of the star together even more. The white star is created by hand quilting quilting a 3/4" / 1.9 cm grid bordered by double lines. Inside each gridded star arm is an additional, smaller snowflake-like star. Rays emanate from the two large stars to reach the borders of the quilt.

The quilt is backed using cream-colored premium Kona cotton. It is so soft and luxurious in feel that it is a delight to curl up under it. The batting is made of 100% cotton which provides a wonderful drape for the quilt.

Peacock Star of Bethlehem Quilt is a symmetrical 93" / 236 cm square with the center star being 60" / 152 cm across. The border is a double border with floral designs on each. The combined borders are 6" / 15.25 cm wide, are mitered at the corners and quilted in an egg-and-dart design. While the star was pieced by machine, all of the quilting has been done by hand.

The matching shams are small quilts themselves and are made of the same celery and chocolate fabrics that are present in the large quilt. The main portion of the shams are a green fabric with a peaceful leaf print. These green sections are hand quilted in an all-over twisted rope design. The borders are 3" wide and are made of a fabric that shifts from medium to dark brown with gold and blue flowers and fleur de lis in the print. The backs of the shams are of the same green, leaf-print fabric as the fronts. The back is made in two sections so that you can slip a pillow inside. Each sham is 24" x 31" / 61 cm x 79 cm (finished size) and was created to fit a standard sized pillow.

The combination of geometric shapes and organic print fabrics and the the blending of both warm and cool colors in the star make this Peacock Star of Bethlehem quilt easy to coordinate with and a perfect addition to any bedroom.
