Bear Paw Quilt was constructed of an assortment of shirting flannels, homespun fabrics, gingham checks and calicoes.  For some reason, plaid always feels like it keeps you warmer than other fabrics.  Picture yourself wrapped in a warm, plaid bundle as you sit in front of a roaring fire or lay gazing up at the stars at night.

This patchwork Bear Paw Quilt measures 80.5" x 100" (215 cm x 254 cm) and is made to fit a full sized bed.  It will also fit a twin, but the sides will hang down further.  

The quilt has a dozen bear paw blocks, each with four paw prints clustered around a center block that matches the color of the "claws".  The groupings come in a variety of coordinated colors such as green with navy, red with black, tan with dark brown and others.  Various off-white colored fabrics make up the "snow" behind the paw prints, providing a high contrast background that really makes the colors stand out.

Around the edge of the field is a narrow, deep green border with a woodsy fern design on it.  Outside of the green border is a wide rugged-looking red plaid border.  The quilt is also bound in the same, red plaid fabric.

Each bear paw is hand quilted with concentric squares within the paw print.  All paw prints and center squares are outlined with hand stitching.  The inner border is outlined, and the outer border is quilted with a vine and leaf design.  Quilt is not prewashed, so after it is laundered, it will develop that lovely, crinkled look.
